There are many people who want to engage or work in a business which mainly deals with the manufacturing, and also, importing of firearms, ammunition and so on. So, let me tell you that for the same, you have to apply for an FFL from ATF. i.e. Federal Firearms License. Besides all of that, a person may search for a collector of curios and relics license which is applied for the transactions connected to holding, acquiring and disposing of curio and relic firearm, in the ffl industry as defined in 27CFR 478.11. Besides all of that, an individual who wishes to be licensed as a collector of curio and relic firearms can file an application for such type of license. Moreover, FFLs are given to eligible people in accordance with the Gun Control Act, 1968 and the FFL should be renewed after every 3 years.
About Dealers & Licenses –
Any individual who is engaged in the work or business of selling firearms at wholesale or through retail, repairing of firearms or fitting barrels, trigger or stocks mechanism to firearms i.e. gunsmith or, a pawnbroker who is taking and receiving firearms by pawn or pledge as a security for the repayment or payment of money, shall require type 01 dealer in firearms other than destructive devices license. The application fee for the same is $200. Renewal is to be done every 3 years which is $90. Besides all of that, with this license you can sell firearms at wholesale or through retail. Repair firearms or make or fit special barrels, trigger or stocks mechanism to firearm. And, also, occasionally import firearms. Then, other type of license is the type 02 pawnbroker in firearms other than destructive devices. The application fee for the same is $200. And the 3-year renewal fee is $90. With this license you can take or get, by way of pledge or pawn, firearms like security for the payment or repayment of money.
Importing of Firearms & Manufacturer –
You can also occasionally import firearms for which you will require type 09 dealers in destructive devices license. The application fee is $3,000 and the renewal fee which is after every 3 years is also, $3,000. With this license you can sell firearms comprising of destructive devices, at retail or wholesale. Then, occasionally import firearms. One of the important things that you should note is that, no license is needed for dealing ammunition only. Any or every person who is engaged in the work or business of manufacturing of firearms or ammunition by giving time, attention and providing labour to the manufacture of firearms or ammunition as a regular course or trade or business with the pivotal objective of livelihood & profit through the sale or distribution of the firearms or ammunition manufactured, shall require a type 06 manufacturer of ammunition for firearms other than ammunition for destructive devices or Armor piercing ammunition license. The application fee and renewal fee are $30. And, with this license you can manufacture ammunition for firearms other than destructive devices or Armor piercing.
